Team & Job Overview
The Small Business National Accounts Team (SBNA) is looking for self-motivated, organized, service-oriented Account Managers to join EDC’s Small Business Quebec & Atlantic Team. The successful candidates will be responsible for managing, maintaining and growing a large portfolio of Canadian customers and prospects in the small business segment while closely collaborating with key financial institution partners.
This will be achieved by qualifying potential EDC clients, cross-selling opportunities for current customers, and coordinating EDC resources to provide predictable product solutions and service delivery to the customer. You will raise awareness of EDC’s working capital solutions through regular contacts with financial intermediaries and other influencers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages a large portfolio of small business clients ensuring demands are met and identifying cross-selling opportunities for EDC’s suite of risk management and working capital solutions to support export growth.
- Qualifies inbound inquiries from small businesses and/or financial partners to identify new potential business development opportunities, assessing export financing, risk management needs or other needs and matching solutions to these needs.
- Serves as the knowledge base and problem solver for the prospect/client, handling negotiation and managing interactions in a positive and professional manner ensuring mutual satisfaction and benefit for client/partner and EDC.
- Builds, monitors and advances individual sales pipeline while striving to achieve individual KPIs and supporting team targets.
- Plans and uses time effectively, while prioritizing competing draws on individual capacity from a large portfolio of customers.
- Collaborates closely with external partners and internal risk teams on transactions, being involved in transaction facilitation, and embodying a team player attitude.
- Executes projects, initiatives, and tasks related to the fulfillment of the market coverage mandate.
- Identifies trends and market intelligence observed through interactions with clients and prospective clients – representing the voice-of-the-customer to internal stakeholders.
- Motivated by the team’s mandate to help Canadian small businesses grow and succeed internationally.
Screening Criteria
- Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in business development, commercial lending, international business, financial services, or trade credit insurance.
- Knowledge of best practices in strategic sales and/or account management.
- Bilingualism (Proficient French & English).
Assets
- Business development experience in commercial banking.
- Knowledge of bank credit and lending practices.
- Knowledge of international business practices and international trade.
- MBA or CITP (Certified International Trade Professional) designation.
Location
- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role may be performed from EDC’s head office in Ottawa or from our community hub in Montreal.
