With 35 years of experience, we’re committed to delivering reliable service, innovative solutions, and lasting value, centered on our people, our customers, and our communities.</p><p><strong>Job Summary:</strong> Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, and Customer Service Representative teams, ensuring that financial and business processes are aligned in contributing to the company’s overall profitability and effective cash flow management. </p><p>The Accounting Manager is tasked with ensuring the relevant accounting standards are followed to facilitate accurate financial reporting processes and oversee a streamlined annual audit. The Accounting Manager is expected to play a key role in identifying areas for improvement and standardization of the system, adding value in the company’s ERP and accounting systems, including the current system and the development and implementation of any new systems.</p><p><strong>Your Schedule: </strong>Monday to Friday, 8 am-5 pm in the office</p><p><strong>Why AFD:</strong></p><ul><li>Great health and insurance benefits – medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, AD&D – because we believe in taking care of yourself.</li><li>Discount on fuel and safety boot reimbursement program.</li><li>Career development.</li><li>Paid orientation & training.</li><li>Personal/Sick Paid Days.</li></ul><p><strong> What you will do day-to-day: </strong></p><ul><li>Leads the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Billing, and Customer Service Representative teams.</li><li>Build and maintain a positive team culture that emphasizes productivity and professional satisfaction for team members.</li><li><span>Assist in credit operations, managing a team, and ensuring effective credit management to minimize financial risk and maintain cash flow.</span></li><li>Balance the requirements of multiple stakeholder groups with competing priorities by leveraging varying expertise and the availability of team members.</li><li>Effectively delegate tasks to team members, while at the same time maintaining a strong understanding of the details behind the figures.</li><li>Process orientation to allow for process/system improvements and effective review procedures of teamwork.</li><li>Coordinate with the Director of Financial Reporting & Taxation and Operational teams to enhance, implement, and maintain accounting reports, controls, and processes.</li><li>Liaise with customers directly and external Legal counsel to enforce collection action on overdue account balances.</li><li>Prepare ad-hoc analysis to advise Executive Management on the financial implications of short-term and long-term plans, strategies, and identify potential opportunities and risks.</li><li>Monitor and enforce policies and procedures established by the company.</li><li>Identify, evaluate, and analyze existing financial and operational processes (system and people) for improvement.</li><li>Provide training and support to team members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their area of focus.</li><li>Prepares routine analysis and reports with attention to detail in support of the company’s decision-making process.</li><li>Provide training and support to team members to ensure a comprehensive understanding of new processes and procedures.</li><li>Other related duties as required or assigned.</li></ul><p><strong>What you need to succeed: (Required education and experience)</strong></p><ul><li>3+ years’ experience in a Senior Accounting role (manager or supervisor role)</li><li>Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or Finance</li></ul><p><strong>Extra skills and Knowledge </strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications.</li><li>Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel, and proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheet programs, and applications.</li><li>Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.</li><li>Management and/or supervisory experience.</li><li>Professional written and verbal communication skills.</li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p>As part of the interview process, all candidates will undergo a successful completion of pre-employment requirements, a criminal record check, and employment reference verification, and an offer will be contingent upon the successful pre-employment checks.</p><p>AFD is an equal opportunity employer and is dedicated to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
