Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Nursing and Personal Care, the Assistant Director of Nursing and Personal Care is responsible for the day-to-day management of resident care services.

The Assistant Director is required to meet the needs and expectations of the residents in accordance with all Ministry of Long-Term Care (MOLTC) Acts and Regulations, the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, and Lakeland Long-Term Care’s mission, vision, values, and policies. This includes promoting and fostering resident-centered programs and care that reflects the values and preferences of the residents.



Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited College or University with a Diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.
Registered Nurse with a current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Continuing education studies in leadership and management skills.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in the Long-Term Care sector.
A minimum of three (2) years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in organizational management in a health care setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) practices.
Diploma in Gerontology or other Long-Term Care related education and training is preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills, excellent interpersonal skills, team building skills, verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, facilitate, and develop training and learning opportunities.
Knowledge of quality management and demonstrated skills in integrating quality improvement principles and processes in addressing priorities in health care.
Must be competent in the knowledge and requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the enforcement of same.
Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references.
Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the core values of Lakeland Long-Term Care.
