This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge quantum technologies in sensing, communication, and computation. The candidate will join Q-Block Computing as the lead machinist to assist with the prototype development and the commercialization activities of existing product lines.</p><p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p><p>As a CNC machinist, you will collaborate with other team members and achieve technical milestones under the guidance of senior leaders. Job duties include the establishment of a new machining shop, CNC machining for rapid prototyping and production, and management of a small team of trainees.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><p>CNC machining for rapid prototyping and production using advanced precision equipment</p><p>CAD drawing generation and modification to support prototype development and design iterations</p><p>CAM programming using SolidCAM, Fusion 360, and SolidWorks for efficient toolpath generation</p><p>Operate and program Datron Neo 2+ CNC mill for high-precision rapid prototyping applications</p><p>Help establish a prototyping machine shop with focus on quantum technology components</p><p>General shop maintenance and SOP development</p><p>Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams on design for manufacturability (DFM)</p><p>Rapid prototyping of complex parts with tight tolerances for quantum sensing and communication devices</p><p>Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the team</p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><p>Machinist Trade Certification, 4th year Apprentice or Machinist Red Seal Endorsement</p><p>Minimum of 4 years of CNC experience with HAAS/Fanuc milling and lathe machines (G-code)</p><p>Experience with rapid prototyping environments and iterative design processes</p><p><strong>Required Skills</strong></p><p>Proficiency in CAD software including SolidWorks for drawing generation and modification</p><p>Advanced CAM programming skills using SolidCAM, Fusion 360, and SolidWorks CAM</p><p>Experience with Datron Neo 2+ CNC mill or similar high-speed precision CNC milling machine</p><p>Ability to machine objects with tight machining tolerances and to properly use quality testing/inspection tools</p><p>Rapid prototyping expertise - ability to quickly transform CAD models into functional prototypes</p><p>Ability to modify and read CAD drawings, set up and adjust production machines & tools, and maintain inspection reports</p><p>Programming and setup of high-speed CNC equipment for precision prototyping applications (aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, copper, brass, ceramic, and glass)</p><p> Experience in fixture design and work-holding systems for precision prototyping operations</p><p> Demonstrated ability to explore innovative approaches and conduct research into novel machining methodologies for advanced materials including ceramics, hard glass, and optical crystals, as well as operations in ultra-high-vacuum/extreme-high-vacuum and high thermal processing environments</p><p> General shop maintenance and organization</p><p> Strong attention to detail, authenticity, and a sense of responsibility in all tasks<br /></p><p>Critical thinking and problem-solving mindset</p><p>Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment</p><p><strong>Preferred Skills</strong></p><p>Experience with 3-axis and multi-axis CNC programming for complex geometries</p><p>Knowledge of materials science relevant to quantum technology applications</p><p>Familiarity with fixture design and workholding for precision prototyping</p><p>Experience with minimum quantity lubrication systems and precision cooling applications</p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p>Extended health care benefits (inc. dental and vision)</p><p>Life insurance</p><p>Overtime paid after 8 hours/day</p><p><strong>Equal Opportunity</strong></p><p>Q-Block Computing is an equal opportunity employer.
