Compliance & Privacy Officer
One of our clients, a leading nonprofit organization, is seeking a Compliance & Privacy Officer to lead and manage organizational compliance and privacy initiatives. This is a unique opportunity for a detail-oriented and proactive professional to support and enhance enterprise-wide adherence to legislative, regulatory, and contractual standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain a comprehensive privacy management program aligned with Canadian legislation and international best practices.
- Develop and implement compliance and quality frameworks, policies, and training programs.
- Conduct internal audits and privacy reviews, manage risk assessments, and monitor program effectiveness.
- Lead contract management processes including drafting, reviewing, and ensuring policy compliance.
- Act as a liaison with external legal counsel and coordinate responses to audits, inspections, and privacy breaches.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as law; privacy certification (e.g., IAPP) preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in compliance and/or quality assurance in a complex environment.
- Familiarity with data privacy, information security, and contracts management.
- Strong organizational, technical writing, and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to nonprofit standards.
- Understanding of privacy issues in research data, data sharing agreements, and de-identification protocols.
