The shift pattern is 40 hours, over 7 days with an on call commitment.
Applications are invited for this substantive Consultant Rheumatology post This post has arisen from the development of the Rheumatology & General Medicine services at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to provide a full range of consultant services as agreed with colleagues.

It is expected that the successful candidate will share provision of care across Rheumatology services and will be based at the QEUH with input into Acute receiving areas on a rotational basis. NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde initially allocates all full time consultants 10 PAs made up of 8 PAs in Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) for CPD, undergo an annual appraisal, and subsequently revalidation as determined by the General Medical Council (GMC). 1SPA (4 hours) is allocated to this as well as personal job-planning.

The precise allocation of SPA time including involvement in audit, clinical governance, teaching, clinical research, internal routine communication and management meetings as well as appraisal, revalidation, job planning and associate objectives will be agreed with the successful applicant and will be reviewed and Agreed.

This is a replacement substantive post which has arisen due to retirements, secondment and increasing service demands. The successful candidate will be responsible with colleagues for the care of both inpatients and outpatients with a range of rheumatology conditions and will be expected to provide a full range of consultant services as agreed with post holder and colleagues, and determined by specialty/sub specialty service demand. The out of hours and weekend on call commitment will be 1 in 8, covering Acute Receiving areas within the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

The successful candidate will provide inpatient care to General Medical inpatients along with Rheumatology colleagues. They will participate in outpatient activity at both the Queen Elizabeth and New Victoria Hospital Sites.

Some flexibility in timing of sessions, taking into account Bank Holidays, prospective cover in colleagues' absence, and occurrence of receiving ward rounds, will be required.
