The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to provide support as a Director, Liquor Licensing and Inspections within the Liquor Licensing and Inspections Branch. This position is required to work on-site. The position is based in Regina; however, consideration will be given to the successful candidate working from the Saskatoon office.

Primary responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of licensing, compliance, enforcement, and education programs related to the beverage alcohol industry, including oversight of all permittees involved in the manufacture, on-table sales, and retail sales of alcohol across Saskatchewan.
  • Ensure regulatory practices, policies, legislation, and standards effectively protect the public interest and contribute to shaping the provincial regulatory framework.
  • Coordinate and oversee operations across Regina and Saskatoon to ensure consistent oversight and effectiveness.

Required Technical Knowledge, Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration/commerce, law, or related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in managerial and leadership positions.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and develop policies, design strategic and operational approaches for implementation, build consensus on policy and operational changes, and assess legal implications.
  • Strong communication and writing skills to promote and explain SLGA’s mandate, policies, and operations to diverse stakeholders and in public forums.
  • Ability to collaborate with legal and enforcement authorities across various jurisdictions.
  • Ability to foster industry understanding of compliance and the intent of legislation and policies.
  • Knowledge of beverage alcohol industry issues, trends, and practices is an asset.

Licensing Requirement
Gaming Regulator Registration required.

Travel Requirement
This position may require minimal travel.

Working Conditions
Core office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday to Friday. The majority of the workday is spent at a desk. The Director must support safety and well-being in the workplace.
