Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Care (DOC) is responsible for the quality of resident care. The DOC is accountable for the efficient operations of the Nursing department, consistent with the Mission, Vision & Values (Competencies) of Bonnechere Manor.



Responsibilities

  • Performs the responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable Provincial and Municipal Acts and consistent with the Operational policies of the County of Renfrew.
  • Ensures nursing services are provided in a manner that focuses on the satisfaction of the clients and fully supports their rights.
  • Responsible for the preparation and control of the approved nursing department budget and all related expenditures.
  • Ensures the effective, efficient utilization of human resources for the nursing department.
  • Responsible for the effective management of assets for the department.
  • Promotes and enhances effective communications throughout the nursing department and positive relationships with community and external organizations.
  • Responsible for nursing staff education and development.
  • Assumes responsibility as designate for Administrator when required.
  • Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety. Follows all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act 2007.

Qualifications

  • General Registered Nurse with a current certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario. BScN degree, MScN preferred.
  • Current certification in Gerontology with the Canadian Nurses Association, an asset.
  • Minimum of five years management experience.
  • Proven leadership abilities combined with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Computer literacy required (word processing, spreadsheet, database).
  • Must have immediate accessible transportation.
  • Ability to meet and maintain health requirement standards of Bonnechere Manor as per the Long-Term Care Legislation.

Wage Range



$65.23 – $73.43 /Hour
