Position Overview:

Lambert Nemec Group is partnering with a respected and innovative not-for-profit organization in their search for a Director of Finance. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced finance professional to make a meaningful impact in community work, overseeing critical accounting operations and contributing to the organization's mission of strengthening communities through bold ideas and collaborative action.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data
  • Partner with leadership to drive financial planning, audit preparation, and donor reporting
  • Develop and maintain robust accounting systems and controls, ensuring compliance with Canadian accounting standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align accounting operations with investment and donor reporting needs
  • Preparing financial reports on monthly/quarterly/annual basis for senior management in accordance with regulatory expectations, as well as budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and donor activity reporting
  • Act as a main point of contact for audits and ensure compliance throughout the process.
  • Lead an existing Accounting function, with the expectation to offer guidance, mentor, and oversee performance of more junior accounting staff
  • Provide operational insights that could have a positive impact on the accounting function in terms of efficiencies and overall improvements to standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in financial management and accounting, preferably in mission driven environments
  • Canadian CPA designation
  • Proven ability to manage financial operations and lead accounting teams
  • Strong understanding of fund accounting and compliance requirements for registered charities
  • Excellent analytical skills and strategic thinking capabilities
  • In office opportunity with emergency flex
