Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Divisional Controller ensures the accuracy of financial reporting and the integrity of internal controls. The role provides financial data and insights to cross-functional stakeholders to enhance management’s ability to make informed decisions. This position will be responsible for developing and coaching a high-performing team that will scale to the Company’s growing needs, while working collaboratively and cross-functionally with multiple departments.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Manages, monitors and streamlines all aspects of the month-end close process, including working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate close in compliance with accounting principles and best practices.
  • Ensures all financial transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner.
  • Develops, implements and maintains accounting and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Manages, monitors and streamlines accounting operations, including cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting and internal controls.
  • Monitors and analyzes financial data, identifies trends and provides recommendations to management as required.
  • Manages, trains and develops department staff to enhance quality and productivity, including mentoring staff and maintaining a two-way dialogue with direct reports on work and results. Communicates department goals and objectives, cascading them to others, ensuring workload is distributed appropriately to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Safeguards the assets of the Company by ensuring the availability of accurate and timely financial and accounting records compliant with relevant standards. Stays abreast of the latest financial accounting reporting trends, compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Participates in the development of annual department expense budgets and forecasts, as well as monitoring performance to budget and forecast.
  • Proactively works with external tax resources and ensures continued compliance with all federal, state and local tax requirements.
  • Works with external reviews, audits and related activities as required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years’ experience in financial management, preferably within consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, or related industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, with a focus on accounting or finance is required.
  • CPA certification is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to a non-financial audience.
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data.
  • Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Exhibits confidence in self and others.
  • Strong leadership skills required:
    1. Provides and accepts feedback in a respectful manner.
    2. Demonstrates strong performance management mindset, with the ability to demonstrate accountability and recognition.

  • Detailed orientated.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside of the box.
  • Strong software skills, with advanced abilities within Excel.
  • Comprehensive experience and knowledge with ERP Financial systems, with a preference for experience with Great Plains.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
