Salary: $34.86/hour (2024 Rates)

Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

This is semi-skilled horticultural work in the planting of eco-sculptures. An incumbent performs a variety of horticultural tasks such as plant selection, fertilizing, watering, pruning and planting of eco-sculptures; operates a one-ton truck and trailer unit used to transport eco-sculptures, materials, equipment, tools and crew. An incumbent provides information and instruction to the public on construction, planting and maintenance of eco-sculptures; prepares and makes presentations to various community groups; may direct and check the work of a small group of labourers. Prepares and maintains planting plans, reports, records and statistics related to the work performed. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include up to high school graduation supplemented by courses related to the work plus sound related experience, or, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and equipment used in horticulture operations. Sound knowledge of the names and varieties of plants used for eco-sculptures. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions; complete and maintain a variety of planting plans, reports and records related to the work; provide information and instruction to the public and to make presentations. Skill in the handling and maintenance of plant stock and in the use and care of horticultural equipment and tools. A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
