Position Summary: 
As the General Manager– Ontario, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all Ontario branches, including Regional Managers, Branch Managers, the greater Delivery team consisting of Delivery Planners, Driver Supervisors and Drivers, and Gas Technician teams. Your business consists of a $100+ million revenue P&L, 110 teammates, over 150 trucks and 12 branches. You will drive growth, ensure operational excellence, deliver sustainable profitability and foster a strong safety culture across the province. 

This is a highly visible, hands-on role that balances strategic vision with operational execution. Your focus will be on delivering top-tier service, driving efficiency, achieving financial goals, and developing high-performing teams. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Strategic Leadership & Growth 

  • Set and execute the operational strategy for Ontario in alignment with Avenir Energy’s national objectives. 

  • Partner with the executive team to identify market opportunities and expand our presence. 

  • Drive profitability through P&L ownership, with a heavy emphasis on organic growth, efficiency gains and cost control.  

  • Act as a visible ambassador of Avenir Energy with customers, industry partners, and regulatory bodies. 

2. Operational Excellence & Safety 

  • Champion a culture of safety and compliance across all branches, ensuring adherence to industry and regulatory standards. 

  • Monitor and optimize branch operations to deliver superior efficiency, service reliability, and cost control. 

  • Leverage data and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Ensure that all sites meet Avenir Energy’s operational and maintenance standards. 

3. People Leadership & Team Development 

  • Lead, coach, and develop Regional and Branch Managers, building a strong leadership pipeline across Ontario. 

  • Oversee the performance and engagement of the Delivery team and Gas Technician teams, ensuring skill development and workforce planning align with business needs. 

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance. 

4. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners, ensuring retention and satisfaction. 

  • Work closely with the sales and service teams to support growth while delivering exceptional customer experiences. 

  • Act as an escalation point for significant customer issues and resolve them promptly. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Education/Experience: University degree (MBA preferred) with 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, preferably within fuel distribution, logistics, utilities, or field-service industries. 

  • Executive Leadership: Must have proven success in leading multi-site operations, including P&L responsibility and strategic planning. 

  • Safety & Compliance: Deep understanding of safety regulations and operational risk management. 

  • People Leadership: Track record of developing high-performing teams and cultivating leadership talent. 

  • Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Strong ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make informed decisions. 

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; comfortable presenting at the executive level.
