Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 per annum (Based on Experience)

Job Summary: The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment on all construction sites. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction safety management, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs and policies in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and internal policies.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
  • Provide health and safety training and awareness programs for all employees, including new hires and subcontractors.
  • Ensure proper use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) on all sites.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders regarding health and safety matters.
  • Maintain and update all health and safety documentation, including policies, procedures, training records, and incident reports.
  • Lead health and safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote a safety-first culture.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to integrate safety into all aspects of project planning and execution.
  • Monitor and analyze health and safety performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior management.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and legislative changes to continuously improve health and safety standards.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Safety Officer (CSO), or equivalent certification preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices in the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees at all levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various construction sites within the Toronto area.
