THEROLE IN A NUTSHELL


We are seeking an experienced andcompassionate Infusion Nurse to join our specialized infusion team. Thesuccessful candidate will provide safe, high-quality infusion therapy to adultand pediatric patients in an outpatient clinic setting. This role requiresadvanced clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability toprovide child- and family-centered care while maintaining a calm, reassuringpresence during procedures.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide intravenous (IV) infusions, injections, and othertherapies for both adult and pediatric patients according to medicalorders and clinical protocols.

  • Conduct thorough pre-infusion assessments, including reviewingmedical history, vital signs, and potential contraindications.

  • Ensure patient safety and comfort by using appropriatedistraction techniques, pain management strategies, and familyinvolvement.

  • Monitor patients during infusion for signs of adverse reactionsor complications and respond promptly to emergencies.

  • Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes incompliance with clinic protocols and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse manager, pharmacists, andallied health professionals to coordinate and optimize patient care.

  • Provide education and emotional support to patients andfamilies regarding treatment plans, medications, and home careinstructions.

  • Maintain clinical readiness by ensuring infusion supplies,emergency equipment, and pediatric-specific tools (e.g., oxygen masks, AEDpads, appropriately sized catheters) are available and up to date.

  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives,training, and continuing education.


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR



  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with current licensure in good standing.

  • Minimum 2–3 years of pediatric nursing experience (infusion or acute care setting preferred).

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification strongly preferred.

  • CVAA certification considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated expertise in IV insertion and vascular accessmanagement in pediatric populations.

  • Strong knowledge of pediatric infusion therapy standards,pharmacology, and emergency protocols.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient/family educationskills.

  • Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and professional inhigh-stress situations.

  • Experience with electronic health record systems.

  • Knowledge of pediatric growth and development principles andhow these influence care delivery.

  • Compassionate, patient, and creative in supporting childrenduring procedures.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to managemultiple patients efficiently.

  • Commitment to infection prevention and adherence to safetyprotocols.


Working Conditions



  • Day shifts with occasional flexibility (weekends) requireddepending on patient volumes and scheduling.Direct interaction with children, families, andmultidisciplinary teams.
