Litigation Lawyer – 5+ Years


Location: Calgary, Alberta | In-Office

Talent Renew has partnered with a leading Calgary-based litigation firm recognized for its excellence in insurance defence and commercial dispute resolution. The firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer with a minimum of five years of practice to join their growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a results-driven lawyer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is eager to work on complex litigation files involving insurance defence, tort, property damage, and commercial claims.

About the Role


The successful candidate will independently manage a portfolio of litigation files while also supporting senior counsel and mentoring junior lawyers when required. You will work across a broad range of insurance and commercial litigation matters, providing strategic advice and advocacy on behalf of insurers and corporate clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage litigation files from initial instruction through to resolution or trial
  • Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior lawyers and support staff
  • Conduct legal research, prepare pleadings, and draft opinions and correspondence
  • Develop litigation strategies and provide clear, practical advice to clients
  • Handle claims involving property damage, product liability, fraud, construction, automobile accidents, and insurance coverage disputes
  • Maintain client relationships with a focus on exceptional service and responsiveness
  • Prioritize multiple deadlines while ensuring a high standard of legal work

What We're Looking For:

  • JD or LL.B. and in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
  • Minimum 5 years of litigation experience, ideally with insurance defence exposure
  • Strong knowledge of civil procedure and litigation best practices
  • Proven ability to manage a busy caseload independently
  • Excellent research, drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal
  • Experience supervising junior counsel and collaborating within a team environment
  • Courtroom experience and defence work in tort, property, and casualty matters are strong assets
