We’re looking for our next Manager, Benefit. Could It Be You?
This role will be responsible for overseeing the benefits function within QFG and leading and supporting a number of rewards related initiatives across the enterprise, including mentoring/coaching and training new team members on best practices.
In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead benefits team in the design, implementation and management of benefit programs (health and dental, pooled benefits, EAP and disability), working with external benefit consultants and benefit vendors as required.
- Oversee Questrade’s RRSP program, reviewing and updating policy documentation and ensuring compliance.
- Manage Questrade’s vacation policy, reviewing usage, carry over, as well as recommend any changes to the policy to ensure competitiveness.
- Lead annual benefit renewal process in close collaboration with benefits consultants and internal colleagues.
- Manage benefits delivery processes and procedures, providing recommendations/solutions on operational improvements across the benefits function.
- Periodically review benefit programs to ensure competitiveness and cost effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with benefit consultants, vendors and stakeholders, ensuring appropriate service levels are upheld.
- Lead the alignment of benefits and RRSP program for any new acquisitions, working closely with the HRBP and other internal stakeholders.
- Oversee benefit invoice payment process, monitoring benefits spend and identifying any savings opportunities.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process for benefits.
Communication & Engagement:
- Develop and oversee benefits communication strategy, identifying opportunities for improved awareness and engagement on the part of employees.
- Thinking outside of the box when it comes to benefits procedures and how to improve employees’ experience in this regard.
Data Management:
- Implement and oversee benefit audit processes and procedures, ensuring data accuracy between HRIS and that of Questrade’s benefit administrator.
- Support final completion of Dayforce Benefits module. This includes ensuring data accuracy between Questrade and the benefits broker as well as ensuring the benefits file feed is complete and full self-serve function is available to employees.
Other:
- Displays strong business acumen, keeping updated on human resources trends, analyzing and interpreting legislation and its implications on the company’s benefit programs and RRSP program, making recommendations as necessary to ensure compliance and proper governance.
- Maintain accurate and well-organized documentation on all Total Rewards processes.
- Promote best practices, share ideas and information to ensure consistency with QFG’s Total Rewards strategy.
- Other duties as assigned.

- 8+ years of experience in the Human Resources field, with experience specifically in benefits
- College diploma or university degree in the field of Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, and/or equivalent experience in the role.
- An ability to provide creative solutions and recommendations (Think outside the box)
- Strong communication skills with ability to build relationships both internally and externally
- Ability to recognize opportunity for improvement and lead change
- Knowledge of best practices relating to employee experience
- Continuous learner, eager to research, absorb and share best practices
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, and able to deal with staff and managers throughout the company in a professional manner
- Excellent problem solving skills and takes initiative to provide creative solutions
- Detail oriented, well organized, results oriented with strong time and project management skills
- Team player with positive attitude and solid leadership skills who can easily handle shifting priorities, multitasking and working within a collaborative environment
- Have experience with global benefits administration
