Job Title: Manager, Talent Acquisition

Reporting directly to the Vice President, People & Culture, the Manager, Talent Acquisition plays a critical role in shaping Skeena Gold + Silver’s workforce. This position is responsible for overseeing all recruitment activities, ensuring we attract, engage, and hire exceptional talent across technical, industrial, and corporate functions. Combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution, the role manages high-volume recruitment while driving long-term talent strategies aligned with business objectives. In addition, this position understands the development and administration of competitive compensation programs, including short- and long-term equity, to support our commitment to attracting and retaining talent.


Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Strategic Recruitment, Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and execute effective recruitment strategies to attract skilled multi-disciplinary candidates across engineering, technical, industrial, and corporate roles.
  • Improve and streamline the candidate experience
  • Utilize various sourcing channels (job boards, social media, agencies, industry events) to build a strong talent pipeline
  • Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, professional networks, and industry organizations
  • Lead and mentor a small team of recruiters and coordinators, providing guidance and support to achieve hiring goals
  • Develop and manage annual recruitment event strategies, including career fairs, campus recruitment, industry conferences, and community hiring events, ensuring alignment with long-term workforce plans
  • Conduct interviews, assessments, and reference checks to evaluate qualifications and Skeena culture fit
  • Ensure recruitment processes comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies
  • Support and advise managers with consultants, contractors, and specialized external resources, ensuring consistent evaluation standards and compliance with company policies
  • Promote Skeena’s brand and values through LinkedIn, industry events, and networking
  • Oversee, track, and approve all recruitment-related materials, including promotional items, swag, pamphlets, and equipment, ensuring alignment with branding, budget, and recruitment needs
  • Collaborate with the Communications department to enhance online presence and employer reputation
  • Lead strategic recruitment marketing initiatives tied to workforce planning, future skills demand, and long-term growth objectives

Legal, Compliance & Employment Agreements

  • Lead negotiations and oversee new hire employment agreements
  • Support onboarding to ensure smooth transitions for new hires
  • Maintain accurate recruitment and compensation data in HRIS (UKG) and related systems (DocuSign, SharePoint, Smartsheets)
  • Manage and support immigration and work authorization processes, including visas, permits, and renewals, in partnership with external immigration consultants and legal advisors
  • Ensure compliance with all immigration, employment, and cross-border hiring requirements for international hires and contractors
  • Create and manage dashboards and reports and for recruitment related data

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Recommend and maintain competitive salary structures and pay bands
  • Understand equity programs (stock options, RSUs) and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and market competitiveness
  • Conduct market benchmarking and compensation analysis for all roles
  • Advise leadership on total rewards strategy to attract and retain talent
  • Understand employment agreement clauses for regular hires as well as executive level contracts

Internal and External Collaboration/Community Engagement

  • Lead recruitment-related community engagement and outreach initiatives, ensuring alignment with Indigenous partnerships, local workforce development goals, and regulatory commitments
  • Collaborate with leadership to translate long-term business strategy into forward-looking talent acquisition plans
  • Maintain proactive communication with community partners, educational institutions, and First Nations organizations regarding future workforce needs and upcoming opportunities
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leadership based on pipeline health, market trends, and future talent risks
  • Demonstrate strong capability in navigating complex and sensitive conversations with candidates, hiring managers, and external stakeholders, balancing business needs, fairness, and relationship management
  • Ensure full compliance with Impact Benefit Agreement (IBA) conditions by integrating workforce-related commitments into recruitment strategies, hiring practices, tracking, and reporting, and by monitoring adherence to Indigenous employment targets, documentation requirements, and agreed-upon workforce obligations in coordination with internal stakeholders, legal advisors, and community partners

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field.

Experience / Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in talent acquisition, with at least a year in a leadership role
  • Experience in the mining industry is an asset
  • Proven experience and knowledge in compensation strategy and equity programs
  • Background in startups or high-growth environments is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of HRIS systems, recruitment tools, tech savy and ability to leverage new platforms and services
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with immigration processes, compliance and Canadian Employment Law
  • Ability to manage multiple recruitment priorities simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment

Work Location & Conditions

This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced working environment, with multiple competing priorities. 

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is CAD $125,000 to $155,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
