Intermediate Fabric Developer

Senior Fabric Developer

Principal Fabric Developer


For all roles, direct Fabric experience is mandatory.


Job Summary


The Microsoft Fabric Principal Consultant is a senior technical expert responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of end-to-end data and analytics solutions on the Microsoft Fabric platform. This role requires deep expertise in all Microsoft Fabric experiences (Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, Data Science, Real-Time Analytics, and Power BI) to deliver scalable, governed, and performant data architectures. The architect will act as a technical leader, advising stakeholders, defining best practices, and ensuring solutions align with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities


DP700 is preferred, but failing that, direct Fabric experience is mandatory.


• Solution Design and Strategy:

• Design and architect modern, enterprise-scale data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse and Data Warehouse implementations.

• Lead discovery workshops and collaborate with business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable and sustainable data architectures.

• Develop architectural blueprints and roadmaps for data platform transformations.

• Implementation and Development Leadership:

• Lead the development of end-to-end data pipelines using Fabric Data Factory and notebooks (PySpark).

• Guide technical teams in implementing medallion architectures (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) using Delta tables within OneLake.

• Oversee data migrations from legacy platforms (e.g., Azure Synapse, Amazon Redshift) to Microsoft Fabric.

• Governance, Security, and Optimization:

• Establish and enforce best practices for data governance, security, and compliance using Microsoft Purview and other Fabric features.

• Design and implement security models, including role-based access control, within the Fabric environment.

• Conduct performance tuning and optimization to ensure high-performance and cost-effective solutions.

• Collaboration and Mentorship:

• Serve as the subject matter expert on Microsoft Fabric, providing technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers, data analysts, and other team members.

• Collaborate with AI and BI architects to provide robust data infrastructure for AI/ML workloads and reporting.

• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation covering data architecture, processes, and procedures.

• Pre-Sales and Client Engagement (for Consulting Roles):

• Support pre-sales activities by leading client workshops, developing proof-of-concepts (PoCs), and creating technical proposals.

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, effectively communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Required Qualifications and Skills


• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience:

• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or business intelligence.

• Proven hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions using Microsoft Fabric.

• Experience in a consulting or client-facing architecture capacity is a plus.

• Technical Skills:

• Microsoft Fabric: Deep expertise across all Fabric experiences (Data Engineering, Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Data Science, Real-Time Analytics, and Power BI).

• Data Languages: Advanced proficiency in SQL, PySpark, and Kusto Query Language (KQL).

• Azure Services: Strong working knowledge of related Azure data services such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Databricks.

• Data Concepts: Strong understanding of data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling), ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.

• DevOps: Familiarity with Azure DevOps or Git-based CI/CD pipelines for Fabric deployments.


• Certifications (Preferred):


• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)

• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700)

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)

• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)

• Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

• Proven ability to lead projects and work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
