Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
Postdoctoral positions are available in Professor Hakem’s laboratory at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, part of the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. Our research team is committed to exploring innovative mechanisms of cancer and identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities to develop treatments for aggressive cancers.
Professor Hakem’s research program focuses on several pivotal domains: cancer genetics, DNA damage repair, genome-wide CRISPR-Cas9 screening, biochemistry, transcriptomics, epigenetics, chromatin remodeling, pharmacogenomics, and multi-omics integration. The program employs various methodologies to inform our studies, including mouse models, patient-derived xenografts, patient-derived organoids, and publicly available cancer databases, such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Through applying systems biology, interdisciplinary approaches, and robust collaborations with scientists, clinicians, pathologists, medicinal chemists, and computational biologists, our objective is to advance therapeutic options for patients with cancer.
Duties:
- Working closely with our research team members.
- Regularly updating the PI on research progress.
- Weekly data presentation at our lab meeting.
- Excellent skills in writing manuscripts and fellowship applications.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in cancer biology, biochemistry, or related academic disciplines is required.
- Candidates with substantial experience in DNA damage repair, transcription, and epigenetics will be prioritized.
- PhD degree in a relevant field, must be obtained within the previous 5 years.
- Candidates should exhibit high motivation and dedication to their academic pursuits.
