Job Description

Job description:

Neighbourhood Plumbing is a residential service company focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of in-home plumbing and heating systems within HRM.

It’s safe to say that no two days are the same when it comes to residential plumbing. We’re  think-on-our-feet problem solvers committed to providing a professional and pleasant experience for our customers.

“Old school” customer service is what has driven our success since we opened our doors in 2022. We take the time to get to know our customers, to respect their homes, and to solve their problems thoroughly and professionally so they can focus on getting their day back.

We care for our team and they, in turn, care for our customers. We’re a family-first company invested in setting our team up for success by providing predictable work hours (no 24/7 service); top-of-the-line tools and equipment; quality uniforms; health and wellness benefits; above-average pay, and more.

Role & Responsibilities

Your primary job is to serve the customer . You’ll not only address their plumbing issues swiftly and accurately, you’ll also take great care in delivering excellent customer service. You will:

  • Provide a high level of service to the customer, including showing up on time, arriving equipped with tools and material to solve their problem, wearing a clean uniform, etc
  • Diagnose the plumbing issue at hand and walk the customer through it, as well as the proposed solutions (and pricing) for repairs or replacements
  • Perform quality plumbing service that is clean, to code, and, whenever possible, visually appealing
  • Clean up after yourself. We leave our customer’s home without a trace of us having been there. This means we  always cover our boots, vacuum, bring our trash with us, and clean up before leaving
  • Maintain daily quota for calls/customers served while minimizing call-backs
  • Communicate regularly with the office for invoicing, dispatching, material lists, etc

Skills, Traits & Abilities

To be the ideal candidate for this role, you’ll have:

  • A Real Seal certification in plumbing (*this is required). This role requires a very strong understanding of plumbing codes and regulations
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of residential plumbing/service experience is mandatory. More residential service experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Proficiency and comfort with digital tools—software, email, cell phone, etc
  • People skills: you’re a people-person at heart and love getting to know and helping others
  • Attention to detail: you’re diligent in your work and understand the importance of the details—arriving on time, looking clean and professional, having a clean and stocked truck, etc
  • Professionalism: you're highly trained and provide an essential, professional service; you know your value and uphold the integrity of our trade
  • Critical thinking: when you encounter something you’ve never seen before, you exhaust all available resources to solve the problem

Compensation Package

  • Pay : $40 - $45/hour to start, depending upon experience
  • Hours : Typically an 8 hour day with a minimum daily service quota of 3 calls/customers; overtime may be available during peak periods
  • Vacation : 4% vacation pay to start, paid holidays off, plus your birthday off every year
  • Benefits : Optional enrollment in our health & dental plan, including Teladoc, an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) + a $400/year Health Spending Account
  • Phone: Company-provided cell phone
  • Hours of Operation: We operate Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. We don’t offer 24/7 service (except in the event of an urgent call-back; you are responsible for your work). There will be occasions where opportunity arises to work different or more hours—you will be compensated accordingly
  • Gear:  You will have access to everything you need to do your job well, including a company vehicle, gas card, top-of-the-line tools, safety equipment, and uniforms

Please note that this position requires the completion of a background check and submission of a driver’s abstract. These checks must be satisfactory in order for an offer of employment to be made.
