Registered Occupational Therapist

Job Description

We are currently looking for an Occupational Therapist for a Long Term Care home client in Hamilton, Ontario. The Occupational Therapist will work closely with residents to help improve their activities of daily living.

Schedule:
  • 5 hours bi-weekly



Job Duties:
  • Conduct OT/ADP assessments for residents per College standards, develop individualized treatment plans, and document all progress notes in the facility's health record system.
  • Complete feeding assessments for residents.
  • Complete assessments for falls prevention and Least Restraints, including reviews of bed rails.
  • Work with the Physiotherapist and Nursing staff in regards to wound management (ex: positioning, lifting and transferring.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary team to make recommendations with respect to other interventions or treatments (ex: Restorative Care, Pain Management, Contingence Management), and ensure the interventions follow best practices.



Qualifications:
  • Must be registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapist of Ontario, and must have ADP Authorizer.
  • Must have Professional License Insurance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills while interacting with residents or their families.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a Long Term Care home would be a definite asset.
  • Current police check for the Vulnerable Sector is required.
