We are looking for a Senior Designer who is passionate about whole-home residential design and enjoys leading projects from first conversation to final detail.
About the Role
As a Senior Designer at OakWood, you will be a trusted guide for our clients and a key collaborator within our in-house team. You will lead the design of full-home renovations—including kitchens and bathrooms—translating ideas into well-resolved, buildable designs that feel both beautiful and livable.
This role is ideal for a designer who values collaboration, takes pride in craftsmanship, and understands that great design is as much about listening as it is about creativity.
What You'll Do
- Work with sales to establish an initial concept design before the project is sold
- Lead the design of residential renovation and whole home projects
- Build strong, lasting relationships with clients through clear communication and thoughtful guidance
- Translate client goals into cohesive, functional, and timeless design solutions
- Develop space plans, concepts, and construction drawings with support from architectural technologists
- Guide clients confidently through material, cabinetry, fixture, and finish selections
- Collaborate closely with estimators, architectural technologists, project managers, and construction teams
- Ensure designs align with project budgets, schedules, and technical requirements
- Maintain clear and organized documentation throughout the design and build process, with the help of an estimator who will create change order reports
- Contribute to design standards, mentorship, and a positive team culture
What You Bring
- Degree or diploma in Design or a related field
- 7+ years of residential design experience, including whole-home renovations
- Strong understanding of residential construction and renovation practices
- Experience working in a design-build environment
- Proficiency with design software, Revit is an asset
- Excellent space-planning, detailing, and problem-solving skills
- Confident, professional, and client-focused communication style
- Organized, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple projects
