Senior Scrum Master

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master to lead and coach Agile teams in delivering high-quality software solutions. The successful candidate will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, remove impediments, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of Agile methodologies.




This is a contract opportunity with 4 days/onsite work requirement in Toronto downtown office location.


Key Responsibilities

  • Agile Leadership: Guide and coach multiple Scrum teams in adopting and improving Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
  • Ceremony Facilitation: Lead Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Reviews, and Retrospectives to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Impediment Removal: Identify and resolve blockers to keep teams focused on deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a liaison between development teams, product owners, and business stakeholders.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement through metrics, feedback, and Agile maturity assessments.
  • Mentorship: Train and mentor junior Scrum Masters and team members on Agile principles.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Tool Expertise: Utilize Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.) to track progress and maintain transparency.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 5+ years as a Scrum Master, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Advanced Certified Scrum Master (A-CSM), or equivalent.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
  • Soft Skills: Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Mindset: Passion for Agile principles and fostering a collaborative, self-organizing team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus).
  • Background in financial services or regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and continuous delivery.
  • CISSP Certification
