Skilled Baker

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and detail-oriented Professional Baker to join our production team. This position requires strong technical baking knowledge, consistency, quality control management, and a commitment to high production standards.

This is a hands-on role in a professional bakery environment — not a general kitchen position.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a professional commercial bakery
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Dough quality assessment and control
  • Mixing methods and bakery machinery operation
  • Oven management and proofing standards
  • Laminated dough production (croissants, Danishes, puff pastry, etc.)
  • Experience with sourdough bread production (considered a strong asset)
  • Quality control management experience — ability to monitor product consistency, evaluate texture and structure, maintain standards, and reduce waste
  • Solid math skills for scaling recipes and managing production volumes
  • Strong understanding of food safety, cleaning, and sanitation standards
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and consistency
  • Physical strength and stamina: ability to lift and carry heavy items (e.g., 25–50 kg bags of flour, trays, and equipment), stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment

Important:

  • Applicants with only general kitchen or restaurant cooking experience will not be considered.
  • Experience limited to large chain quick-service operations (e.g., Tim Hortons) will not be considered equivalent to professional artisan baking experience.

You will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and baking breads, laminated products, and specialty items according to production schedules
  • Managing dough production from mixing through proofing and baking
  • Monitoring fermentation and making necessary adjustments to ensure consistency
  • Performing quality control checks before products are released
  • Ensuring proper oven loading, baking times, and temperature management
  • Maintaining accurate production records and recipe standards
  • Keeping workstations clean, organized, and sanitized at all times
  • Following all food safety and workplace safety procedures
  • Assisting with inventory control and minimizing ingredient waste
  • Supporting overall team efficiency and daily production goals
  • Safely handling heavy ingredients and equipment as required

Availability & Eligibility

  • Available to work 5 days per week
  • Flexible availability between 5:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Must own a personal vehicle for reliable transportation
  • Applicants must be currently residing in Canada and hold valid legal work authorization

Please note: While we welcome all interest, priority will be given to candidates who are legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application. Requests for employment sponsorship may limit the opportunity for consideration.
