As a rapidly growing restaurant, we are looking to add a sous chef to our kitchen team to meet the high volume of increasing orders, someone who thrives under pressure and takes pride in making great food.
Job Duties:
Assist in overseeing food preparation and cooking, maintaining top quality and authenticity in Royal Beefs signature Chinese beef dishes.
Assist in menu and recipe planning with a focus on signature beef dishes, incorporating traditional Chinese cooking techniques such as stir-frying, braising, and slow-cooking.
Report directly to the Head Chef, providing updates on kitchen activities, food quality, and team performance.
Supervise and mentor kitchen staff on a daily basis, including chefs, cooks, and assistants.
Monitor food quality and presentation, assisting cooks to ensure all dishes meet restaurant standards and customer expectations.
Assist with inventory management, estimate costs, and coordinate equipment purchases and maintenance.
Demonstrate cooking techniques and equipment usage to kitchen staff, assisting newer team members.
Perform other duties as required
Job Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of relevant culinary experience as a sous-chef, specialist chef, or chef in a high-volume kitchen.
At least 3 years of kitchen management experience, including staff supervision.
Knowledge of Luyu cuisine (or experience with traditional Chinese beef dishes) is preferred.
Culinary training or a cooking certificate is an asset.
Completion of secondary school.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Keen attention to detail in flavors, portions, and presentation.
Reliable team leader with strong collaboration skills.
Sound judgment in managing kitchen efficiency and workflow.
Flexible work schedule, including weekend, morning, night, and public holiday shifts.
