Position Description

The Research Technologist II is responsible for applying technical knowledge and skills to perform moderately complex laboratory procedures and experiments. Assignments will be broadly outlined and frequently require some theoretical insight, the interpretation of empirical data and the ability to find and extract pertinent information from technical literature. The candidate should be a highly motivated individual who embraces learning new techniques and is a strong communicator. The position will report to a Principal Investigator within the program.



Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

  • Perform experiments using iPSCs, neuronal cell culture systems and mouse lines
  • Learn and help to develop new scientific procedures/techniques as required
  • May be required to train others and/or provide technical assistance to students and postdocs
  • Document and record scientific procedures and maintain and document any resulting data
  • Organize and regularly monitor mouse colonies/cages in animal facility and perform genotyping as required.

Here’s What You’ll Need


  • Expertise with iPSC maintenance, neuronal differentiation and gene editing required
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures such as cell culture, PCR, western blotting, plasmid preparations, protein purification
  • Previous experience working with mouse colonies including mouse surgical procedures/treatments are an asset
  • Problem solving skills are required: must demonstrate initiative to solve problems independently in a timely manner, while under the general direction of the Principal Investigator
