Position Summary:

Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Operations oversees, manages and directs all North American operations functions within the organization, including manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, logistics and warehousing. The position utilizes a customer focused mindset to ensure all operations functions are focusing on providing the highest level of customer service, while ensuring communication and collaboration amongst the various operations departments. The role is part of the Company’s executive leadership team and will be involved in various strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities & Expectations:

  • Develops and implements strategies for the operations function, that aligns with the Company’s strategic goals and vision.
  • Oversees all operational functions within the manufacturing cycle, including procurement, processing, supply chain, encapsulation, final packaging and logistics to ensure optimum production levels while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Drives standards and initiatives as it relates to lean manufacturing, quality, on-time delivery, supply chain innovation, logistics management, cost controls and operational efficiencies.
  • Develops and manages the operations budget, including resources allocation, setting and monitoring performance to financial goals.
  • Focuses on efficiencies and continuous improvement projects, with the goal of reducing costs within all operations functions, while improving customer service provided.
  • Creates, develops and implements KPI’s for operational teams and focuses on ensuring a high level of customer service and responsiveness.
  • Manages performance for operations team, including setting expectations, having regular one-on-one performance discussions and holding staff accountable as required.
  • Monitors industry trends and ensures appropriate practices are implemented where appropriate.
  • Works collaboratively with both the operations teams and the executive team in ensuring strategic goals and initiatives will be met.
  • Establishes strong relationships with various key stakeholders including suppliers, vendors and other partners.
  • Provides regular updates to the executive team on key metrics, initiatives, and operations goals.
  • Recommends capital expenditures and investments that align with organizational strategies and initiatives, and works with key stakeholders to ensure equipment installation and capital expenditures are completed.
  • Ensures the safety of operations staff, ensuring safety protocols and procedures are developed where required.
  • Works closely with the quality team to ensure that all products purchased, received, produced and shipped meet required specifications.
  • Implements production planning initiatives to ensure the goal of 14 day shipping from receipt of order is met.
  • Works to drive efficiencies and initiatives that ensures MAUC is equal to or lower than BOM costs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in a related field is required, with a preference for a master’s degree.
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience within a food production or manufacturing environment, with at least 5-8 years of progressive leadership experience. Previous experience with the development of systems, production planning, inventory, procurement and manufacturing processes/practices is preferred.
  • Must have previous experience with project management, including facilities and capital projects.
  • Excellent leadership skills required, to influence others and provide clear vision, direction and expectations to staff.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong computer skills required, including utilizing Power BI, ERP system and Microsoft office suite.
