A Canadian manufacturing organization is seeking a Plant Controller to join its leadership team. About the Role

Reporting to senior operations leadership, the Plant Controller is responsible for safeguarding assets, ensuring accurate plant financial reporting, and providing insights that directly improve P&L results and cash flow. This role works closely with operational teams to enhance margins, improve cost controls, and accelerate efficiency initiatives, while maintaining strong compliance and control frameworks.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee plant financial reporting in accordance with corporate standards and Canadian GAAP.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for the facility, aligning with organizational objectives.
  • Analyze variances and trends to drive timely operational decision-making and performance improvements.
  • Partner with operations leadership to support productivity, lean initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation, cost accounting, and standard costing processes.
  • Lead physical inventory and cycle counts, ensuring discrepancies are explained and prevented going forward.
  • Oversee compliance, audit readiness, and financial risk mitigation at the plant level.
  • Develop and mentor finance team members, fostering accountability and cross-functional collaboration.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA required .
  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 in plant controller or equivalent role.
  • Expertise in cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to partner with operations to deliver measurable financial impact.
  • Strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to link financial performance with operational drivers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across functions.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is an asset.
