The Accounting Supervisor supports the Accounting Manager with overseeing day-to-day financial operations and ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data and financial statements. This role supervises a team of Financial Analysts and is responsible for maintaining efficient accounting workflows and strict compliance with internal controls and corporate policies. The Accounting Supervisor oversees financial analysis and reporting to support timely decision-making across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Review and approve all accruals, corrections, and other month-end journal entries prepared by Financial Analysts and ensures retention of appropriate documentation and support.
  • Perform variance analysis to identify and explain deviations from budgets/forecasts/normal trends and suggest corrective actions, if any, for process and business improvement.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Accounts Payable, Billings, Collections, Payroll, and other staff to ensure revenue and costs are accounted for in the proper period and coded to the proper accounts.
  • Analyze and reconcile General Ledger accounts monthly.
  • Review financial statements monthly for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Synthesize, organize, and interpret data by creating ad-hoc reports and graphs of the financial statements in Excel as required.
  • Create and effectively present financial insights to senior management and broader corporate finance team to ensure timely and informed decision-making, alignment of organizational objectives, and proactive identification of risks and opportunities.
  • Explore and recommend procedures to improve existing accounting processes for smoother and more efficient operational functions.
  • Review and maintain rig review guidelines; ensuring any relevant changes to policies/procedures are properly communicated.
  • Provide expertise and guidance by being a subject matter expert in MS Dynamics 365.
  • Ensure internal controls are maintained and key signoffs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors to ensure existing process meet ICOFR requirements and to provide any documentation requested during their testing period.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Assist in the completion of year-end financial and tax reporting packages.
  • Develop and maintain MS Dynamics 365 reports and posting setup.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to Financial Analysts.
  • Oversee workload distribution, review work for accuracy, and support professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting, business finance, or related experience (includes supervisory or lead responsibilities).
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of accounting principles and IFRS.
  • Advanced proficiencies in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge in Power-BI visualization is an asset.
  • Strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, extract, and present insights from large data sets.
  • ERP experience (MS Dynamics, SAP, Oracle or similar programs).
  • High degree of organizational and time management skills. Able to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment with evolving business needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent leadership and team-development skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement and collaboration.
